FAQs

  • Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university-qualified allied health professionals that specialise in prescribing and delivering exercise for people across all stages of life. From those managing chronic disease, injury, or illness to anyone wanting to improve their health, wellbeing, and performance. Recognised by Medicare, private health insurers, DVA, NDIS, and WorkCover, AEPs bring extensive knowledge in clinical exercise delivery, lifestyle modification, and health education to support long-term results.

  • Your initial assessment includes a detailed discussion of your current health, relevant medical history, lifestyle, and goals, plus evidence-based (strength, mobility, aerobic capacity, balance) movement testing to establish your current baseline . You’ll receive your personalised Movement Assessment Plan (MAP) Report within 3 days of your initial appointment and a clear starting point for your exercise prescription.

  • Yes. If you have a valid GP referral under a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) or Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan, you may be eligible for up to 5 sessions per calendar year, with around $60 rebated per session. If you’re managing a chronic health condition, chat with your GP to see if you’re eligible for this plan.

  • It really depends on your goals, condition or injury, and your current baseline. As a guide, the gold standard for effective results, especially in injury rehab, is weekly to fortnightly sessions for 6–12 weeks - followed by a reassessment. After that, many people space out reviews as needed.

Some clients continue longer for accountability or when managing more complex conditions, while others transition to self-managing sooner with the occasional check-in.

That’s why I offer a mix of options: 1:1 in-person, virtual sessions, and flexible app-based programming, so your support can evolve with you, short and long term.

I also understand cost and time is a big factor in frequency. My role is to recommend the most effective plan for your situation, then work with you to fit it into your lifestyle, budget, and schedule. Ultimately, it’s your choice, but I’ll always aim to give you maximum value in each session, along with the tools you need to confidently self-manage long term.

  • I get it, life happens — sickness, last minute work meetings or days that just don’t go to plan. All I ask is that you give me at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

    • Less than 48 hours’ notice may mean a 50% fee.

    • Less than 24 hours’ notice or no-shows may mean the full fee (ouch, I know).

As a small business, every appointment counts — and a late cancellation means someone else misses out on a spot they may have really needed. The sooner you let me know, the more likely I can shuffle things around and fit both of you in.

You can cancel through the online booking system, text, or give me a call on 0433 380 287 (just please, no DMs on socials).

And if you do miss an appointment, I’ll always check in — partly to rebook, mostly to make sure you’re okay!

  • There are lots of crossovers between these professions, and we often work together to support clients. The main differences come down to focus and approach:

    • Physiotherapists are experts in diagnosing and treating acute injuries, and they can provide manual therapy (hands-on treatment such as joint mobilisation or soft tissue work) alongside exercise prescription.

    • Exercise Physiologists (EPs) are university-qualified allied health professionals who take a “hands-off” approach, specialising in the use of exercise as medicine. We design and deliver programs for rehabilitation, chronic conditions, injury prevention, and long-term health outcomes. EPs are also recognised by Medicare, private health funds, DVA, and WorkCover.

    • Personal Trainers play an important role in fitness, performance, and motivation, usually within a gym setting. While many PTs go on to complete further study and certifications, their traditional scope is centred on general health fitness and performance rather than injury, medical conditions, or rehabilitation.

In short: there’s overlap between all three, and depending on your needs, each has an important place in your healthcare team!

  • No — non-members are welcome. There is a casual entry fee of $25 (payable on arrival) at Function Well for non-members, and at Move Pilates, sessions are held in a private clinic space with no additional charge to the consultation fee.

  • Yes, I am registered with all major health funds. Most private health funds offer rebates for Exercise Physiology services. Please check with your individual provider to confirm your eligibility.

You’ll receive an invoice after your session to claim directly through your fund. Alternatively, an SMS payment link can be sent directly to you for on the spot claiming— we’ll just need your health fund card details to process this.

REFERRAL
& PAYMENT
FAQs

  • No referral is required for private clients. If you're seeking rebates through Medicare, a referral from your GP under a Chronic Disease Care Plan is required.

  • Yes. Please send me an email/enquiry before booking so we can ensure we have the right paperwork in place beforehand.

  • If I am unwell or have a sick toddler (daycare germs are no joke) , I will do my best to let you know asap via text or phone call.  I will offer my first next available sessions for a reschedule and of course, the option for a refund.

  • Wear something comfortable that you can move freely in — activewear or loose clothing works best. Please bring closed-in shoes for gym-based exercise, and clean grippy socks if you’ll be using Pilates equipment. A water bottle and a towel is always a good idea (especially for training appointments), and if you have any relevant referrals, scans, or medical reports, bring those along too or email them across beforehand so I can get the full picture.

  • All sessions are paid in advance through the online booking system. You’ll receive a secure payment link to pay by Visa debit, credit card, or PayPal, and invoices/receipts are emailed so you can easily claim rebates where applicable.

For eligible on the spot health fund rebates, an SMS payment link can be sent directly to you — we’ll just need your health fund card details to process this.

If you attend recurring sessions or are signed up for online programming, you can also set up direct debit payments for convenience, so your bookings roll over automatically without having to re-enter details each time.

EFTPOS facilities are also available onsite if you’d prefer to pay in person for future sessions.
